The Mummy MOT® is a specialist postnatal assessment designed to support women in their recovery after pregnancy and childbirth. Delivered by a fully trained pelvic health physiotherapist, this comprehensive one-to-one assessment helps identify and treat common postnatal concerns, enabling you to regain confidence, rebuild strength and return safely to exercise and everyday life.
Whether you have had a vaginal birth or Caesarean section, a Mummy MOT® provides an in-depth assessment of your body after pregnancy, ensuring that any issues are addressed early and your recovery is fully supported.
At The Wellness Hub in Berkhamsted, Hertfordshire, we provide evidence-based postnatal physiotherapy and personalised rehabilitation programmes tailored to your individual goals and lifestyle.
What is a Mummy MOT®?
The Mummy MOT® is a specialist postnatal check that includes a detailed assessment of:
- Posture and alignment
- Breathing patterns and core function
- Abdominal muscle separation (Diastasis Recti)
- Pelvic floor strength and coordination
- C-section scar mobility and healing
- Lower back, pelvis and hip function
- Movement patterns and return-to-exercise readiness
Following your assessment, your physiotherapist will provide a personalised treatment plan and rehabilitation programme designed to help restore strength, improve pelvic floor function and support long-term recovery.
Who is a Mummy MOT® For?
A Mummy MOT® is suitable for all women following pregnancy and birth. It is recommended from six weeks postnatal, but it is never too late to benefit. Whether you are six weeks, six months or several years after having your baby, many symptoms can still be effectively treated.
You may benefit from a Mummy MOT® if you are experiencing:
- Urinary incontinence after prostate surgery
- Stress urinary leakage
- Pelvic floor weakness
- Reduced core stability
- Post-prostatectomy rehabilitation
- Lower back discomfort
- Reduced confidence returning to work, sport and exercise
Benefits of a Mummy MOT®
- Comprehensive postnatal assessment by a pelvic health physiotherapist
- Early identification and treatment of postnatal issues
- Expert guidance on safe return to exercise and running
- Personalised pelvic floor and core rehabilitation programme
- Support following vaginal birth or Caesarean section
- Improved strength, posture and confidence
- Treatment for bladder leakage, prolapse symptoms and abdominal separation
- Helping you feel stronger and more comfortable in your body again
When Should I Have a Mummy MOT®?
A Mummy MOT® is recommended from 6 weeks after birth, following your GP postnatal check. However, many women seek help months or even years later and still achieve excellent results.
If you’ve never had your body assessed after having children, a Mummy MOT® can provide valuable insight and help address symptoms you may have assumed were simply “normal” after pregnancy.
